Aid India is a not-for-profit that empowers the disadvantaged in one of the porrest parts of India. In this region, 54% of rural people live below the poverty line. The lotus flower was picked for Aid India's new logo for a couple of reasons. First, it is an important and traditional symbol in India. Second, the lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. Untouched by impurity, the lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind. In this way, the lotus can be compared to the people being helped by Aid India. Through this assistance, they are able to rise above the poverty by which they are surrounded and blossom into their full potential.
